Éire Dialogue Hosts Its 4th Annual Ramadan Dinner at the Mansion House — “Rekindling the Community”
On 6 March 2025, we gathered once again in the beautiful Mansion House for Éire Dialogue’s 4th Annual Ramadan Dinner, graciously hosted by the Lord Mayor of Dublin, Emma Blain. This year’s theme, “Rekindling the Community,” came to life in the most heartfelt way as more than 50 guests from different faiths, cultures, and communities joined us around a shared table.
It was an evening filled with warmth, sincerity, and genuine connection. Every year, this dinner reminds us of the power of simply coming together, but this year felt especially meaningful. In a time marked by division and uncertainty, seeing so many diverse individuals gathered with open hearts felt like a beautiful reminder of the unity we can create when we choose dialogue over distance.
We were honoured to welcome a number of distinguished guests whose presence deeply enriched the evening, including:
Archbishop Dermot Farrell, Catholic Archbishop of Dublin
Archbishop Michael Jackson, Church of Ireland
Myozan Kodo Kilroy, Soto Zen Buddhist community
Imam Sami Ceylan, Muslim community
Leonard Abrahamson, Vice President of the Jewish Representative Council of Ireland
Deputy Lord Mayor of Dublin, Donna Cooney
Dr. Lucy Michael, Irish Human Rights and Equality Commission
Ciaran Nunan, An Garda Síochána
Councillor Janet Horner, Dublin City Council
Dr. Jennifer Okeke, National Women’s Council
Lorraine O’Connor, Muslim Sisters of Éire
But these were certainly not the only valued attendees. We were honoured to share the evening with many more cherished guests, each bringing their own stories, perspectives, and kindness. Every person in the room, community leaders, volunteers, neighbours, activists, students, and friend, added something special to the atmosphere and helped make the evening truly meaningful.
One of the most memorable moments of the night was a four-minute Sema performance, a traditional Sufi ritual symbolising the soul’s journey toward unity with God. The performance carried a sense of calm, spirituality, and quiet beauty that touched everyone in the room. Its graceful movements and symbolic depth created a moment of collective reflection, reminding us that peace begins within the heart before it reaches the world around us.
As the fast was broken, the room paused for a shared moment of gratitude, a reminder that despite our many differences, we are united by the same longing for compassion, understanding, and belonging. The conversations that followed were rich with openness, curiosity, and respect.
Our theme, “Rekindling the Community,” was truly alive throughout the evening. Old connections were renewed, new friendships were formed, and a shared vision for a more peaceful and inclusive Ireland grew stronger.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to Lord Mayor Emma Blain for hosting us so generously, and to every single person who joined us. Your presence made this night unforgettable and reaffirmed why dialogue, kindness, and connection matter so deeply.
Here’s to many more shared meals, shared stories, and shared hopes as we continue building bridges, one gathering at a time.
