Racism across the diaspora: Personal narratives
Racism across the diaspora: Personal narratives
Our goal is to raise awareness of racism in Ireland through personal stories and we hope our speakers will bring a better understanding of inequality experienced by Irish residents. Overall, we would like to provoke conversations that matter. The past discussions within this series have focused on the analysis of racial politics and proactive approaches towards the goal of racial equality. This month’s discussion intends to take a less clinical approach, and instead hold space for personal narratives. Through a conversation on lived experiences of our speakers, this panel intends to shine a personal light on the racism that pervades lives, as well as provide the groundwork for a comparative case study.
By highlighting their relationship to race and racial politics, our esteemed speakers will trace the trajectory of how racial policies and the racial history of their respective countries has affected them on a personal level. They will outline some of the deep-seated racial issues in their countries and suggest steps decision-makers could take to address these issues.
